Has Halston Found Its Pulse?
According to WWD.com (Womens Wear Daily) Sarah Jessica Parker is teaming up with Halston Heritage to be the Creative Director.
The first thing that came to my mind was the the incident with Lindsay Lohan and Ungaro. -She designed a horrendous line for them, however Ungaro became a household name because of it. I think this was a bad move on the design team, but great PR. Just think of the new audience they will receive for their next show.
Back to SJP. Halston was once the top fashion line. The founder Roy Halston Forwick was popular until his downward spiral due to the Studio 54 era. He sold the line, and was then fired from it 10 years later. Since then the owners of Halston has tried several times to revamp the line but has been unsuccessful.
Sarah Jessica Parker has been named Creative Director for the Halston Heritage division, which is the spin-off collection that sells for a lower price point. Not only is she a fashion mogul, SJP launched a line of her own a few years ago, Bitten.
With her publicity, fame and stable reputation I believe Halston Heritage it going in the right direction. I’m sure SJP has picked up a few pointers from Sex & The City stylist, fashion designer, diva extraordinaire the legendary Patricia Fields as well.
I’m excited for this line! What are you thought?
